Improve PE and school sport through impactful leadership. Delivered by Steve Green (PE Leader at Malin Bridge). In 2018 Malin Bridge were named Primary School of the Year at the Sheffield Get Active Awards & received the Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity in Education award at the Olympic Legacy Awards. They are also a Centre of Excellence for PE.

Lunch is provided.

The course covers:

Making PE and School Sport an integral part of the whole school development plan

Find out how to create and establish a vision for PE and School Sport in your school. The session will be led by the PE Coordinator who will discuss ways in which you can create a vision that suits
your setting.

There will be ideas and examples of good practise for you to take, adapt and use in your setting. This will include establishing your vision, sharing your vision, leadership and role of PE Coordinator.

Assessment of PE and School Sport

Ideas to support assessment of PE and the progress children make year on year in PE. Making links between educational PE and physical wellbeing to support the provision of interventions to support children. Establishing PITA assessments to support children’s health and wellbeing. Use of school sports action plans and school sports audits to track the development of PE as a subject.

Establishing a culture of physical activity

Ideas to support building a culture of physical activity in your setting. Use of research to support the need for children and staff to be physically active, active playgrounds, active  classrooms, participation in school sport, sports leaders, personal trainers. 
Using an environment that is not always suitable for physical activity.
