The Sheffield Teaching School Alliance is pleased to offer a programme for non-specialist teachers who have the potential to teach either Spanish or French, want to retrain as a MFL teacher or wish to return to the profession and teach Spanish or French. This high quality and high impact programme will be delivered by specialists. Nine morning sessions delivered remotely.
The course would be of use for Year 5/6 primary school teachers and English leaders.
The course is being delivered by Stephen Nash (Deputy Headteacher at Stradbroke Primary) and Ben Dawson (English Lead at Malin Bridge Primary), both of whom are current Y6 teachers and former City-Wide Moderators for Sheffield. The session will focus on:
Developing an understanding of the Interim Assessment Framework.
Analysing examples of GDS writing.
Choosing an appropriate medium.
Planning for success: are you providing opportunities for children to be GDS writers?
Improve PE and school sport through impactful leadership. Delivered by Steve Green (PE Leader at Malin Bridge). In 2018 Malin Bridge were named Primary School of the Year at the Sheffield Get Active Awards& received the Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity in Education award at the Olympic Legacy Awards. They are also a Centre of Excellence for PE.
This course would be of use for PE leaders and aspiring PE leaders. The course covers:
Making PE and school sport an integral part of the whole school development plan.
Assessment of PE and school sport.
Establishing a culture of physical activity.
Using an environment that is not always suitable for physical activity.
A national programme, delivered locally, giving good and outstanding teachers a set of high level skills and strategies to enable them to become consistently and sustainably outstanding.
It is suitable for those wishing to develop coaching skills.
The course provides teachers with:

the ability to coach colleagues and pupils in their own school and in other schools to raise performance levels,
