Once you have chosen your course, you need to officially apply via UCAS Teacher Training.

Their application form is quite detailed, but you can save it as you go, rather than complete it in one sitting.

You will need the following information:

  • Our training provider code: 1N5.
  • Your chosen course code (you can view a full list of our courses here).
  • A campus code.
  • Education: institutions attended, GCSE qualifications, A-level results, degree type and qualifications, and credits from your degree.
  • School and work experience: including dates, any periods spent abroad and your current occupation.
  • Your skills test pass results (these are valid for three years).
  • Personal statement: this is your chance to explain why you have chosen a career in teaching and why you would make an excellent teacher, in a concise form - 4,000 characters over 46 lines!
  • References: you’ll need to supply two of these.

Once you’ve received your references, you’ll be able pay and submit your application. The fee for teacher training 2019 is £1.

UCAS usually opens from mid to late October.

Please remember that we consider applicants in the academic year before they begin the course, so an applicant applying from October 2018 to August 2019 will begin their course in September 2019.
