About Us

Sheffield Teaching School Alliance (STSA)

Silverdale School was designated by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) as a teaching school in June 2012 which is a reflection of their on-going Ofsted outstanding judgement as a school. As a National Teaching School, Silverdale School has worked hard to establish an alliance across Sheffield and beyond and is now leading Sheffield Teaching School Alliance in partnership with schools, Universities and colleges.

Our vision is to become a highly valued provider of teacher training for teachers in their first five years of teaching beginning with Initial Teacher Training and continuing to middle leadership with the National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership.

Our ethos is inclusive and collaborative and outstanding achievement for all is at the centre of everything we do.  Our first priority is to improve the life chances of children in Sheffield and to empower colleagues to be the best teachers, leaders and professionals in the country.

The STSA is governed by the Strategic Development Group which is made up of our strategic partners from across the region and includes colleagues from other Teaching School Alliances.  We meet every half-term to establish the strategic direction of the teaching school alliance but also to respond to the needs of schools in the area.   We are always interested to hear from schools and colleagues so please tell us about your upcoming needs.

The STSA leadership is based at Silverdale School with an administrative office where all the central functions of the STSA is carried out. We can be contacted on or by completing our contact form.
